Using Up My Stash - Scrapbook Generation Kits

Hey Everyone!

I have recently joined a group on Facebook of fellow scrappers and we are all planning to have a "no buying" freeze during the month of October.  Our goals are to save some cash and use our stash!  I have so much stuff laying around and so many pictures to scrap that this is the perfect opportunity to free up some space in my craft room - for all of that new stuff I'm going to want at Christmas time.

In one cubby of my Kallax shelving unit, I have some old kit club orders.  I love kit clubs.  I buy them all of the time but some months I don't have the time to scrap them all and I hang my head in shame as they pile up in this cubby.  This will be my cubby of shame no more!  I'm attacking these kits!  Some are great for photos that I already have and some I am creating the layouts but not adding the pictures because they will be good for scrapping pictures once the baby comes.  I'll show those layouts in another post.

Today I'm post in this double pager that I created.  The kit is from 2014.  Definitely time to get it out of my stash!!  I thought the colors from the We R Memory Keepers Jet Set line went nicely with the photos from our trip to Gatorland in Florida.  I added in a title using some Amy Tangerine thickets from my stash.  I LOVE those Thickers.  Sigh.  I'll be happy and sad when they are used up.

Thanks for check out my layouts!  If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments!

Sketch Challenge on the Victoria Marie FB Group

Hi Everyone!

So I have decided to add a second blog to my blogger account.  You may (or may not) know about my other blog - Sarah's Stamp Lab - where I feature all of my cards from my Stampin' Up! business.  In the past I have posted some of my scrap layouts, but I really felt that I needed to create a separate blog just for my scrapping and so Sarah's Scrap Lab has been born!  I hope you enjoy the projects I post here.  I'm fairly new to scrapbooking.  I have only been doing it for about 2 years, but I 'm really enjoying documenting a lot of our lives.

I am a member of quite a few scrapbooking groups on Facebook, but my favorite one is the Victoria Marie Facebook Group.  It's such a great group of people who all are super supportive and just fun to chat with!  In addition to the support and inspiration, there are also lots of challenges posted.  The challenges have no deadline, so you can participate in them whenever you feel like it.  Recently on the group, there was a sketch challenge posted that I really wanted to try.

Here is the sketch:

I believe the sketch was originally from Scrapidees.

Here's my layout for this sketch:

I used the True Colors kit from the Scraptastic Club.  Scraptastic always gives you two kit choices every month.  Do not ask me where I got the idea that this kit was the one for me.  It's all hot pink, orange and black and white.  Not my go to colors at all!  I guess that I was looking for a challenge.  I think in the end I got about 5-6 layouts out of it, but I really did not like this kit very much.

To make the paint splatters and brushstrokes, I used some stamps from Stampin' Up!, and then I used cardstock, stickers, and a doily from the Scraptastic Kit.  For the title, I cut the words out of the Bella Blvd Newsflash paper.

I hope you enjoyed my first scrap blog post!  If you have any questions about the layout, please leave the questions in the comments section and I'll get back to you!
